Incident involving a competitor at the Poatina Hillclimb

Earlier today, a competitor in the 2015 Poatina Hillclimb was transported to hospital for treatment after sustaining injuries as the result of a single car incident.

As a result of the incident, the navigator in competition car number 22, Andrew Kuc of Hobart, has been transported to Launceston General Hospital. The driver, Cameron Kuc also of Hobart, is okay. The navigator is now in the care of Ambulance Tasmania and is under observation and undergoing injury assessment.

The competition car left the road approximately 2km into the event’s 10.2km closed-road course, which is located in Northern Tasmania.

Immediately following the incident, an extensive emergency response was enacted in accordance with the event’s Safety Plan.

Competition has been downgraded as a result of the incident.
